These are the thoughts of a Texas transplant in West Michigan who makes his living as a newspaper reporter by evening, and a struggling novelist by day.

the teaching continues

this teaching gig is a godsend. i've never felt such a rush as i do when i'm in the classroom. i get in there and bam! i get going. i walk around, talk, point out students, ask them to read stuff aloud. man, it's great.

i've rarely felt this good about something. i'm generally a positive person, but this just takes it to another level. it's a wonderful experience.

i had a good conversation with my teaching mentor this afternoon. he assured me that i'm on the right track. he answered some questions and all is good with him. it was an enlightening talk. he liked some of the things i incorporated into the classroom. plus, so much of what i'm doing is done from a natural instict despite never having done this. i'm looking at curriculum and talked to others and i'm on track. yay!

it's a blessing to have this in my life. it brings me peace, believe it or not.
